Quality Hotels West Cork Rally to be a counting round of the Irish Tarmac Modified Challenge for 2014
The Tarmac Rally Organisers Association who organise and run the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship, Irish Tarmac Modified Challenge and Irish Historic Tarmac Championship, are delighted to announce that the Cork Motor Clubs Quality Hotels West Cork Rally for 2014 will be a counting round of the Irish Tarmac Modified Challenge, which takes place in Clonakilty on St. Patricks Weekend. Speaking earlier today, the T.R.O.A. Manager, Gerard Seaman said that “after several meetings and two presentations to the T.R.O.A. by Cork Motor Club, agreement was reached to have the Quality Hotels West Cork Rally included in the 2014 calendar”.
Mr Seaman went onto say that “the T.R.O.A. is very excited to be joining up with the West Cork Rally and hopefully it will be the start of a great working relationship. We all know that the West Cork Rally attracts a big number of overseas entries as well as some of the top modified exponents in the business, and in turn we are hoping to attract some of these crews to our championship. The board of the T.R.O.A. felt that the West Cork Rally deserved to be part of the championship next year after all of the efforts they have put in to innovations such as developing their own timing system. Indeed the infrastructure in and around the Clonakilty area is ideally suited to host a round of Irelands premier rally championship, with the restaurants, bars and hotels in the area being ideally equipped to hold a large capacity. Being from the area myself I know only too well the beautiful scenery the area has to offer and indeed with coverage being shown all over Europe, the event can only boost even further the thriving tourism business that Clonakilty has to offer. We wish the Cork Motor Club every success with their event and really look forward to working with their team”.
