Young Armagh driver James Wilson and Co-Driver Gavin Doherty will debut their new Peugeot 208 R2 in the West Cork rally on St Patricks weekend. James will be chasing Tarmac Championship points for the first time carrying on a family tradition that goes back quite a few years.
His Grandparents James and Hilary Wilson competed through the 70’s and 80’s and were 1600cc class winners in the 1981 ITRC. James’ dad Trevor competed in the late 80’s and 90’s winning the 2000cc class in 1991 in a Opel Manta 200.
James himself already has a sideboard full of silverware. He won the Rally Sport Association junior championship in 2010 and after a short sabbatical won the Northern Ireland junior championship at his first attempt in 2016.
With support from Road Tankers Armagh and James Wilson Garage Services the Armagh pairing will be hoping to challenge for the R2 title and the elusive prize trip to Belgium.
