Showtime: Donegal International Rally Goes Viral

Donegal International Rally Ireland Organisers have revealed a radical upgrade in the media coverage of the Letterkenny-based 2014 Rally, which starts on 20th June.

Press Officer John McCay said:

“After coming close to having a full Internet media service in our previous International rallies, our experience with the feed we supplied on Twitter and Facebook in 2013 – and the huge response it generated – persuaded us to develop our internet presence for 2014.”

“This year’s Donegal International Rally will also have full coverage on iRally, the World’s biggest rally reportingmedia. This will provide iRally Radio, news, stage times, interviews and results on a continual basis over the three days of the Rally on the iRally App and website, with reporters based at stage exits – just as it is on major Championship events around the world.”

“The iRally App has been downloaded to over 700,000 smartphones and tablets world wide, and its involvement is a recognition of the growth of Donegal and a major boost to the Rally’s International status. Like ourselves, they have a Twitter and Facebook presence, but iRally’s is huge. As a result, an awful lot of people are going to see and hear about the renowned ‘”Donegal experience’”.

“It doesn’t stop there. Donegal Motor Club have engaged with Microcam, the Co. Tyrone- based event media specialists, and long term Donegal Rally partners, to dovetail with iRally and provide a TV service from stage ends and in Service areas, where their large media platform unit will be based each day.”

“The full internet service will be accessed on the www. iRallylive.com website and on

www.donegalrally.ie.

This will provide competitors, supporters, sponsors and rally organisers with unparalleled Rally coverage.”

Greg Strange of iRally commented:

“iRally is delighted to be coming to Donegal. You look at the cars and drivers who have won the Rally in the past, and you know straight away this is one of the great rallies, and not just a great rally of Ireland. It’s going to be a privilege to be there, and we can’t wait”

Charles McGuckin of Microcam added:

“We have been involved with the Donegal Motor Club for many years and are really looking forward to this years Rally. This is a massive step forward. We have the full facilities for instant internet access of rally footage, in-car videos and interviews. We will have a big screen and cameras on site over the weekend and we will also be able to process footage that spectators may capture. This is a really exciting development for Rally coverage in Ireland”.

Eamonn McGee, the Clerk of the Course of the Donegal International Rally said:

“This is a big development for the Rally and will provide competitors and their many sponsors with fantastic media exposure right through the weekend. We have a great relationship with the local and National media and with iRally the event will reach out across the world. Last year we had competitors travel from the US, Canada and Australia to take part and we know that many rally fans, and Irish people abroad, want to follow the progress of their favourites in the Rally, or just soak up the crack that it provides.”

“I’d like to welcome everyone to this new service and also to use its announcement to make a call for marshals to assist in the running of the event. The popularity of the rally keeps growing and so does the number of marshals we require to keep everyone safe. I would appeal to rally fans who can give us some of their time to Marshal on the weekend to contact us as soon as possible on the Rally website.”

Press OfficerJohn McCay added:

“The Press launch for the Donegal International Rally 2014 Ireland will take place on Tuesday 3rd June 2014 at Terence Diver Hyundai in Letterkenny. We will have guests, interviews, and more information about the 2014 Rally and everyone is welcome.”
