Robert Woodside to drive Tuthill Porsche R-GT on Circuit of Ireland

The Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish Tarmac Rally Championship will have its first ever R-GT car on a championship counting round when Richard Tuthills Porsche 911 hits the Circuit of Ireland stages over Easter. It is almost thirty years since one of the most iconic cars ever to compete in rallying appeared in homologated form on an Irish Rally, that being the 1986 Circuit of Ireland in the hands of Billy Coleman. This newer variation is eligible to compete in the R-GT class and will be driven by Robert Woodside who will be navigated by Allan Harryman, both sons of former winners of the Circuit of Ireland.

A further development is that Robert has registered for points in the Tarmac Championship which will generate even more interest. “I grew up watching Porsche 911s winning Irish rallies” remembers Robert. “Who could forget Henri Toivonen & Billy Coleman in the Rothmans Porsche 911s of the 1980’s which Tuthill Porsche had a hand in building”. The latest incarnation of the Porsche 911 has already been seen on a WRC round this year and it looks and sounds very impressive.

“It is a delight to bring our Porsche R-GT to Ireland”, said Tuthill team boss Richard Tuthill. “As Robert and Allan have previously established a formidable partnership on this challenging event, we’re looking forward to three thrilling days with the Porsche R-GT at our second home here in Ireland”.

Richard Tuthill has offeredspecial thanks to David Gray and the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship committee for their support and encouragement. “It’s third time lucky forthe Tuthill Porsches endeavours to bring this iconic car to the Championship in Ireland,” says David. “They tried to bring the car to last year’s Ulster Rally, and then out to Cork, but it was not to be. Having it here for the Circuit will please many Irish rally and Porsche fans.”
