Quality Hotel Clonakilty West Cork Rally shaping up to be a great modified battle

With just ten days to go to the 2014 Quality Hotel Clonakilty West Cork Rally, the second round of the Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish Tarmac Modified Championship, the entries are now at the 120 mark for the main field which includes several of the registered championship runners. Championship leader Declan Gallagher from Donegal makes his first trip to the Clonakilty based event on the back of very strong performances in both the Historic Rally of the Lakes and in the national section of the Galway Rally. On both occasions he drove outstandingly well to win comfortably. Second placed Wesley Patterson from Lisburn was runner up to Gallagher in Galway but has extensive experience of the West Cork roads and will be expected to put up a very strong challenge. Other drivers who are expected to appear include Pat Donegan, Mark Nangle, Martin Donnelly and Liam Howlett and of course there is also the possibility of more drivers registering in Clonakilty.  One thing is sure, with over 200km of stage miles over 13 stages, whoever wins will have come through a tough test, and we should have a better idea who the men to watch will be in the quest to become the Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish Tarmac Modified Champion for 2014.
