2015 Irish Tarmac junior champion John O’Sullivan has moved into the homologated arena and purchased Marty Gallagher’s Fiesta R2. The talented Cork native won the tarmac junior championship last year in what was his first full year of rallying. He continued to impress in 2016 with some stunning drives in his trusty Honda Civic and currently lies fourth overall in the modified championship.
O’Sullivan commented; “Although I now have a homologated car, my intention is to continue in the modified championship as I am currently fourth overall and will push to try and finish in the top three, this will be difficult against the more powerful cars but I will give it my best shot. The Fiesta is down on power compared to the Civic but the handling and brakes are far superior”.
The three day event will certainly give John plenty of mileage to learn the car, so don’t be surprised if he racks up another fine result.
