Derek McGarrity on top form as Craig Breen sparkles

Derek McGarrity was the overall winner of the combined Toddsleap.com Ulster Rally/Rally NI but the undoubted star was Craig Breen. The 20-year-old from Waterford became the youngest winner of a round of the British championship and the first to claim victory in one of the new breed of Super 2000 cars, an M-Sport Ford Fiesta.

McGarrity Takes Ulster WRC Rally Crown

Derek McGarrity and James McKee dramatically snatched the 2010 Toddsleap.com Ulster WRC Rally crown yesterday in their Subaru Impreza S12B WRC. Their total time of 1 hr 39 mins 44.6 secs pipped Gareth MacHale and Brian Murphy by just over 1 second in a nail-biting finish.

Alastair Fisher could be excused if he ends up cross-eyed this weekend. He will be trying to win the Toddsleap.com Rally NI but focusing on the Ulster Rally too. The 22-year-old Trillick driver, who was the hero of the Circuit of Ireland at Easter, finds himself in a position that is almost too difficult to explain.
